課程概述

人類學每隔一個年代似乎就會出現「危機」,導致學界重新省思、辯論之前的學科典範。就以80年代以來人類學界對民族誌寫作的反省為例,學界對民族誌作為田野知識的再現,做了許多批評。然而,假如說這些典範危機的反省是對內的,晚近二十年來人類學還面臨著對外的危機。公共領域裡對人類學的質疑不斷:從素樸的「人類學有什麼用處?」的呼聲,到一般大眾對人類學無關己身的漠視,到學術界裡逼問人類學對公共議題能夠提出如何的見解。在台灣,人類學是否逐漸「邊緣化」,也似乎成為人類學者對自我焦慮的認知。本課程試圖從幾個角度指出人類學應該、而且也具有提出對當代台灣重要問題的能力。 

課程目標
本課程將從人類學知識的生產、教學、傳播、實踐的過程,探討人類學既有的典範和方法如何可以聯合、介入其他的領域,成為批判性公共辯論的一環。我們最後將指出在這些人類學涉入公共議題的實踐中,可以出現新的典範和方法。 
課程要求
作業一:每週由2位同學輪值導讀,導讀同學需要撰寫1-2頁的摘要(格式見附錄一),請在上課之前印出講義紙本與大家分享;未輪到導讀的同學,請準備半頁到一頁的閱讀心得與提問,做為課堂腦力激盪的原料。

作業二:10/12-13是台灣人類學與民族學年會,請全程參與議程,觀察今年的議題趨勢,在3頁的心得報告中,提出台灣人類學可能介入的公共議題與未來展望。

作業三:學期作業,請同學分析一個公共人類學的實例、或是提出一個可行的公共人類學計劃,在文獻回顧部份,必須融合課堂中部份的使用教材。細節將再另以文件說明。
